Booking your first fishing charter can feel a little overwhelming, especially when you’ve got kids in tow and no idea what to expect. The good news? A well-run charter is one of the most beginner-friendly outdoor experiences you can book.
Here’s everything you need to know before you show up to the dock.
You Don’t Need to Know Anything
One of the biggest misconceptions about fishing charters is that they’re for experienced anglers only. In reality, some of our most memorable trips are with complete beginners, kids catching their first fish, parents who haven’t held a rod since childhood, grandparents getting back on the water.
Our captains are patient, experienced teachers. They’ll show you how to bait the hook, read a bite, set the hook, and fight the fish. Just show up ready to have fun.
What Trip Length Should You Book?
We offer 3, 4, and 6-hour trips. For families with younger kids, a 3 or 4-hour trip is the sweet spot. Thatโs enough time to get into fish and make great memories without anyone running out of steam. For older kids and adults who want more time on the water, the 6-hour option gives you a chance to cover more ground and target more species.
What to Bring
The essentials for a great day on the water: sunscreen (the reflection off the water is no joke), sunglasses, light layers for cool spring mornings, snacks and drinks in a small cooler, and a valid South Carolina fishing license if you’re 16 or older. We handle everything else.

What Will You Catch?
In spring, expect flounder, redfish, trout, and black drum on inshore trips, and Spanish mackerel, bluefish, and Atlantic bonito nearshore. For families with little ones, our pontoon inshore trips on the Black Diamond are a fan favorite, it’s spacious, stable, and perfect for all ages.

A Note on Seasickness
Our inshore trips run in calm, protected marsh water where seasickness is rarely an issue. For nearshore trips, spring typically brings manageable seas. If it’s a concern, an over-the-counter remedy the night before and morning of goes a long way.
Spring spots go fast, especially on weekends. If you’re coming to the Myrtle Beach area in April or May, lock in your date sooner rather than later.
